Your First Botox Appointment: What to Expect

If you've been thinking about Botox but haven't booked yet, the unknown is usually the hardest part. Here's exactly what happens at a first Botox appointment at The Ferris Me — from walk-in to walk-out.

Before you arrive

• Avoid NSAIDs (like ibuprofen), fish oil, high-dose vitamin E and alcohol for 24 hours to reduce bruising risk
• Eat a small meal beforehand
• Come with a clean face if you can — makeup will be removed for treatment
• Bring a list of your medications and any relevant medical history

The consultation

Every first-time Botox appointment starts with a proper consultation. We review your medical history, medications, any previous treatments, and — importantly — your goals. Do you want to soften your 11s? Reduce forehead lines? Lift the outer brow? Not every goal needs Botox, and we'll be honest about that.

The plan

We map out the treatment on your face — which areas, how many units, and what to expect. You'll see the per-unit price and a realistic estimate for your specific plan. If you'd like time to think, that's fine — treatment doesn't have to happen the same day.

The treatment

The injections themselves are quick — typically 10 to 20 minutes. A very fine needle is used, and most clients describe the sensation as a tiny pinch or pressure. Ice or topical numbing can be used for comfort.

Right after

• Small pinpoint bumps at injection sites (fade in 30–60 minutes)
• Mild redness for a few hours
• Occasional small bruise
• You'll leave with written aftercare instructions

Seeing results

Botox is not immediate. You'll typically start to notice softening in 3–5 days, with full effect around two weeks. A follow-up is often offered at the two-week mark for first-time clients so we can review the result together and refine if needed.
