Lip Fillers in Sudbury

We use Health Canada approved hyaluronic acid fillers from established manufacturers. Different HA products have different textures, cohesivity, and behaviours — some are softer and better for subtle hydration and definition, others are firmer and better for structural volume or philtral columns. The right product is chosen for you based on your anatomy and goals; it is not a one-brand-fits-all decision.

We do not use permanent fillers or silicone in the lips. Only reversible HA products.

There are two main tools used to place lip filler: a fine needle and a blunt-tip cannula. Needles allow precise placement in very defined areas — the vermilion border, cupid's bow, philtral columns. Cannulas are longer, blunt-tipped, and can distribute product with fewer entry points, which may reduce bruising and, importantly, reduce the risk of vascular events by moving around vessels rather than through them.

A lip flip is not filler. It is a small dose of neuromodulator (Botox or Dysport) placed in the muscle around the upper lip to allow it to relax and 'flip' outward slightly, showing a bit more of the pink of the lip. It adds no volume and lasts about 6–8 weeks.

Lip filler adds actual volume, definition, and structure with HA product, and typically lasts 6–12+ months.

Some clients benefit from a combination — a small amount of filler for shape plus a lip flip for a softer upper lip — but they are two different tools that solve different problems.

If this is your first lip filler treatment, the plan is almost always conservative. A typical starting point is a single syringe (or often less), focused on shape, definition, and symmetry rather than dramatic volume. It is much easier to add more product at a follow-up than to remove product placed too aggressively on day one.

Because swelling peaks in the first 72 hours, your lips will look fuller in the mirror the next morning than they will after two weeks. This is normal. Photos are typically taken at your appointment and again at your 2–4 week follow-up so you can see the settled result honestly.

Because dental procedures can involve prolonged mouth stretching, pressure on the lips, and increased bacteria near the injection site, we ask that clients avoid dental work for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after lip filler when possible. Cleanings and routine appointments can sometimes be timed more flexibly — please tell us about any upcoming dental work when you book.

We also recommend avoiding air travel for 72 hours after lip filler treatment. Cabin pressure and dehydration can increase swelling and bruising.

Marketing sometimes says 12 months. The clinical reality is more nuanced. Most HA lip fillers begin to metabolize noticeably around the 6-month mark, though small amounts can persist much longer. Factors that affect longevity include the specific product used, the amount placed, your metabolism, activity level, and how much you use expressive muscles around the mouth.

Most clients rebook a top-up between 6 and 12 months to maintain their preferred shape. Waiting years between treatments is fine — you simply reset to a natural lip shape and start fresh.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is used both to correct unwanted results and, importantly, in the rare emergency of a vascular event where product is compressing a vessel.

We carry and are trained to use hyaluronidase. If you have a filler result you're unhappy with — whether from a prior clinic or a treatment with us that did not settle the way you hoped — we can talk through dissolving as an option at consultation.
